Carnival Cruise Line is to create a series of first-in-fleet spaces onboard its newest ship Carnival Venezia, including Italian-style venues, Terrazza staterooms, Terrazza Carnevale and a Lido deck with a retractable roof.
The ship was designed to reflect Italian style, with architecture inside the atrium that is modelled after the Piazza San Marco, the main public square in Venice, Italy. There will also be a theatre, named Teatro Rosso, which will host onboard entertainment.
Outdoor spaces onboard Carnival Venezia will also offer Italian features, such as a Lido deck designed to evoke the Italian Riviera. It will be the first Lido in the Carnival fleet to have a retractable roof so the pool can be enjoyed in all weathers. The Italian theme will continue in the dining spaces too . Carnival Venezia will contain signature Carnival restaurants and bars but introduce new concepts that feature Italian cuisine and beverages. This will include an updated menu at Guy’s Burger Joint, Guy Fieri’s restaurant; La Strada Grill, an Italian street food venue; and Canal Grande and Marco Polo Restaurants, which will serve three-course Italian meals and feature Italian architecture and sculptures.
Guests will also be able to experience Italian-inspired entertainment and activities including a Venetian-styled captain’s toast and a street party with live Italian music as well as spaghetti and gelato eating contests.
In another first, Carnival will introduce 77 new Terrazza staterooms at the aft of decks five to nine, which will all include interior balconies (many with aft-facing views), as well as Terrazza cabanas, which will boast private patios with loungers and a hammock.
All Terrazza guests will have direct access to Terrazza Carnevale, an outdoor terrace with a bar, lounging space and two whirlpools. In addition, they will be given exclusive access to Carnevale Lounge each morning to enjoy a complimentary breakfast and will be invited to join a specially curated brunch on select sea days, as well as an exclusive sail-away event with live music at Terrazza Carnevale.
“Carnival Fun Italian style is a new take on our recipe for creating memorable Carnival cruises, but certainly, fun will still be at the heart of everything we do onboard,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “Guests will feel right at home on Carnival Venezia, with our friendly team members and many familiar venues and experiences onboard, but the addition of several creative new concepts from dining and beverage to entertainment will surely offer some new favourites and further enhance the ship's Italian theming.”
Carnival Venezia will begin sailing from the Manhattan Terminal in New York, USA, in June 2023 and offer 22 itineraries that will collectively visit a total of 25 ports across 14 countries.
