Construction work has started on Carnival Cruise Lines’ latest newbuild Carnival Vista after a steel-cutting ceremony was held at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone yard.
Carnival Vista, which is scheduled for delivery in April 2016, will be the 25th in the line’s Fun Ship 2.0 fleet and will feature a range of bar, dining and entertainment options. These include Guy’s Burger Joint, a Mexican eatery BlueIguana Cantina, the RedFrog Pub, the poolside RedFrog Rum Bar, BlueIguana Tequila Bar and the EA Sports Bar. Carnival Vista will also feature other exclusive highlights.
The 4,000-passenger ship will feature a diesel-electric propulsion system, which will be powered by five of MAN Diesel’s Tier-II-type engines – including two 14V48/60CR and three 8L48/60CR types – capable of delivering 62,400 kilowatts of power. The five engines will operate with MAN Diesel & Turbo’s common-rail injection system, allowing them to run on both heavy fuel oils and distillate fuels. The technology, developed in-house, will improve the vessel’s fuel consumption and reduce its smoke emissions, as well as giving a high degree of redundancy, safety and flexibility.
In addition, the 135,000 gt ship, will be equipped with ABB's new generation Azipod XO units.
Further details regarding Carnival Vista’s design, homeport and itinerary information will be released at a later date.
