Specialised IT solutions provider Carus has acquired MNC Marine and Quintek Systems to provide customers in the ferry industry with new consumer-facing solutions.

Carus will integrate its systems platform with Finnish communications and infotainment specialist MNC Marine’s services and products to create new and enhanced onboard services that were previously unavailable to the ferry industry.

Similarly, Quintek Systems’ solution for restaurants, shops and bars have already been integrated into Carus’ system platform and installed on UK operator Wightlink’s passenger ferries. Further installation projects are in progress.

Acquiring retail specialist Quintek Systems has also enabled Carus to open a new Carus Retail business unit with two England-based offices.

“I’m delighted that we now are able to establish the new business unit Carus Retail and at the same time get a presence in England, in addition to the newly opened office in Seattle, US,” said Anders Rundberg, Carus CEO. “We can now offer an integrated solution with focus on the traveller and consumer. This will allow our clients to create new products and increase their level of service while they, at the same time, can reduce the complexity of their operational IT systems.”

To support the expansion, Carus has appointed Quintek Systems CEO John Burness as president of Carus Retail, while P&O Ferries’ former passenger services director Simon Johnson has been named as president for Carus Ferry. In addition, Anders Mattsson has left his position as CFO for Nordlak to take up the same role at Carus.

“We expand rapidly and with these acquisitions we will reach a revenue of more than €10 million in 2015, an increase with of 70% from 2014,” says Rundberg. “The demand for our products is strong and we have recruited heavily during the last year, our ambition is to show a continued strong growth.”
