Engineering group Cavotec is to equip two new berths with its Automatic Plug-in System (APS) to enable Norwegian operator Fjord1 to charge three electric ferries on the Halsa to Kanestraum route.

APS connects ships to shoreside electrical power during loading prior to subsequent sailings, increasing the amount of time batteries can be charged.

“This repeat order is very encouraging and confirms that we are well positioned in the fast-growing e-vessel market,” said Mikael Norin, CEO of Cavotec. “Our success in Norway also positions us strongly in neighbouring markets in Denmark, Finland and Sweden, where we are actively pursuing opportunities that exist there. In addition, we are also seeing interest for similar solutions in the USA and Canada.”
