Celebrity Equinox has rejoined the Celebrity Cruises fleet following a 29-day, bow-to-stern renovation that involved more than 500 engineers, architects, artisans, designers, contractors, shipyard employees and many in the cruise line’s in-house teams.
New dining enhancements include the renovated Passport Bar; the new Craft Social (formerly Gastrobar), which serves ‘comfort food’ and over 40 craft beers, wine and cocktails on tap; and Qsine, which was formerly Asian restaurant Silk Harvest. Qsine offers two dining experiences – Le Petit Chef and Friends and Le Petit Chef – which were developed in partnership with TableMation and Skullmapping to bring table-tops to life using 4K technology.
Other highlights include refreshed staterooms and suites; new treatment options in The Spa by Canyon Ranch and Canyon Ranch Blow-Out bar; additional world-class retail brands and boutiques in the ship’s retail space; and The Retreat area for suite guests, which comprises an exclusive sundeck and a lounge.
Celebrity has also implemented digital technology across the ship, including radio-frequency identification lock technology, Xcelerate wi-fi, and industry-first facial recognition technology which works with the Celebrity Cruises app to support seamless port arrivals, expedited boarding, digital room keys and guest-to-guest chats.
Young guests will also benefit from Celebrity’s newly launched partnership with the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, which will bring science, technology, engineering and maths-focused activities to the Camp at Sea. The interactive programme will enable passengers to learn about the importance of plankton to oceans and the environment, as well as how to identify and resolve this issue of microplastics.
“Celebrity Equinox holds a very special place in the hearts of everyone at Celebrity Cruises, and also for our guests; this one-of-a-kind ship continues to be the most awarded in our entire fleet,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises. “Now, emerging from her dramatic modernisation, our guests are going to love the new ‘revolutionised’ Celebrity Equinox even more. There is no better way to experience the Caribbean year-round than onboard this stunning ship.”
Celebrity Equinox is the third vessel to be upgraded as part of the US$500 million The Celebrity Revolution initiative. Next up will be Celebrity Silhouette in January 2020 and five more ships will be modernised by 2023.
