Royal Caribbean International has appointed Emmy and Tony Award-winning performer Kristin Chenoweth as Quantum Experience Advisor for Entertainment.
Chenoweth, who will serve as Quantum of the Seas’ godmother when she launches in November, is part of an executive review committee that has previewed concepts for all of the shows, productions and themed events in development for Quantum of the Seas. She has also been involved in choosing sets, music, costumes, casting and more.
“Kristin is by far our most involved godmother yet and it is such a joy to be working with her,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, executive vice president of operations at Royal Caribbean. “We are privileged to have a world renowned performer such as her, sharing insights and feedback on the entertainment that we are so passionate about. Seeing the excitement and energy she has for what we are doing with Quantum of the Seas is such a powerful reinforcement that we are creating something truly special.”
Chenoweth is the fourth celebrity to join the Quantum Experience Advisors programme. In May 2013, American interior designer and HGTV personality Genevieve Gorder was appointed as design advisor, while former National Football League player and philanthropist Dhani Jones was appointed as sports and fitness advisor last October. In April 2014, James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Schwartz joined as a culinary advisor in order to help the line to add new twists to the Chef's Table, create new food and beverage pairings and plan the food and beverage experiences.Schwartz will also open Michael's Genuine Pub – the first American gastro pub at sea – as part of the line’s new ‘Dynamic Dining’ experience, which offers guests 18 restaurant concepts to choose from.
“It has been such a wonderful experience to be the godmother for this incredible ship and I am delighted to make my contribution as the Quantum Experience Advisor for Entertainment,” said Chenoweth. “I have been blown away by what I’ve seen so far from the entertainment onboard Quantum of the Seas and am just so impressed, and that’s not easy to do. This is the real deal, and audiences have a lot to look forward to.”
Royal Caribbean’s new Quantum class will debut in November 2014 with Quantum of the Seas, followed by her sister ship Anthem of the Seas in April 2015. The 16-deck ships weigh 167,800 gt and feature 2,090 staterooms, enabling them to accommodate 4,180 guests at double occupancy.
Both ships will introduce a series of industry firsts including the Ripcord by iFLY skydiving experience; North Star, a glass pod that extends more than 300 ft above the ship; SeaPlex, the largest indoor sports and entertainment complex at sea; and speciality restaurants created with partner-chefs Jamie Oliver, Devin Alexander and Michael Schwartz.
