Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ (CMV) debuted its latest flagship, Magellan, at the London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury, UK, on 12 March.

Irish author and TV and radio presenter Gloria Hunniford named the 46,052gt ship in front of around 1,000 invited guests, who also enjoyed a gala dinner and a fireworks display.

“This ship is a fitting tribute to her namesake Ferdinand Magellan, who was the captain of the first expedition across the Atlantic Ocean to the Strait of Magellan and the Pacific Ocean,” Hunniford said.

Designed as CMV’s new flagship, Magellan accommodates around 1,250 passengers in 726 cabins spanning nine passenger decks. Like CMV’s Marco Polo and Azores, the ship will be adults-only.
