Cross-Channel ferry operator Condor Ferries has experienced a significant rise in mobile bookings after launching a new service at the end of last year.

More than £80,000 worth of bookings have been made using handheld devices, including smaller tablets, since the service went live in December.

Condor also launched its mobile website in May 2013, which is fully integrated with its social media communities, including Facebook and Twitter, and provides real-time sailing and timetable information. Around 20% of web visits are from customers using mobile devices, who can book trips and take advantage of special offers using the mobile site.

“Our guests are very active consumers of mobile content – we know that more than two thirds of those who gave us feedback visit mobile websites most days, so we are delighted to have the mobile bookings site live and already proving extremely popular,” said Justin Amey, marketing manager at Condor Ferries. “It’s a trend that we feel is set to keep on rising, with customers appreciating the facility to make their bookings from wherever they are.”
