Cruise passengers will be able to check-in for flights before disembarking their ships from spring 2015

Cruise passengers disembarking in Copenhagen will be able to check-in online for their flights from Copenhagen Airport before leaving the ship from spring 2015.
Trained crew members can carry out check-in procedures and distribute boarding passes onboard the ship, while labelled baggage can be transported directly from the passengers’ cabins to Copenhagen Airport’s screening and sorting facility.
This will enable cruise passengers to bypass the initial check-in counters and proceed directly to the security area when they arrive at the airport. It will also help airlines to reduce the waiting times at check-in desks and improve passenger flow.
Passengers will pay for the service via their credit cards.
“This exciting new facility, which has been approved by the Danish CAA, offers hassle-free travel for our cruise passengers, enhancing their cruise experience on arrival in Copenhagen,” said Claus Bødker, director of the Cruise Copenhagen Network. “Though already operational in the US, I believe Copenhagen is Europe’s first airport to provide such a travel service of convenience. This also provides an opportunity for cruise lines to achieve extra revenue, while cruise visitors have more time to spend enjoying the many attractions of wonderful Copenhagen.”
The onboard check-in facility was trialled by airline SAS, Princess Cruises and Holland America Line’s Eurodam last year.
