Costa Asia is to bring casual family cruising to Japan for the first time when Costa Victoria arrives in the country to sail ten itineraries next summer.

To be offered in Japan’s peak travel season – between July and September 2016 – the six-day itineraries will not include sea days, but will offer calls at Fukuoka, Maizuru, Kanazawa, Matsue and Pusan in South Korea. Guests will be able to embark and disembark at Fukuoka, Maizuru or Kanazawa.

Itineraries will include visits to iconic attractions such as the Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Shirakawa-go, Kurayoshi and the Adachi Museum of Art & Yuushien Japanese Garden. Guests can also explore the Yongdusan Park in Pusan, South Korea.

All onboard cuisine, entertainment, art and hospitality services, which are designed to offer Costa’s signature ‘Italy at Sea’ experience, will be tailored to meet the needs and preferences of Asian travellers.

“My team and I are excited to bring our unique ‘Italy at Sea’ vacation and introduce the new concept of causal family cruising to Japanese guests,” said Buhdy Bok, Costa Group Asia’s president.

To support its growth in Japan, Costa Asia opened its first dedicated office in the country on 17 November.

“The Costa Japan office will allow us to serve the people of Japan even better than we do today,” said Yusuke Itokawa, Costa Group Asia’s country manager for Japan. “We will build greater synergies with our travel agents and other travel and tourism partners, and interact more intimately with the people of Japan through more focused marketing efforts designed specifically for them.”
