Costa Cruises has obtained the Biosafety Trust Certification from classification company RINA, becoming the first cruise company to receive the accreditation.

All aspects of life onboard and onshore – including embarkation procedures, hotel services, catering and shore excursions – have been audited by RINA to assess their compliance with procedures aimed at the prevention of infections. Specific training modules have been created for crews in compliance with the new health protocols and the associated shipboard management system implemented by Costa, reinforcing the procedures introduced with the Costa Safety Protocol.

Costa will now also perform antigenic Covid-19 swab tests on all embarking guests for the first departure of Costa Deliziosa from Trieste, Italy, and for all subsequent sailings. The test will identify suspicious cases that need to be investigated further with a Polymerase Chain Reaction test and determine whether guests can board.

Costa is returning to operation in September with Italian itineraries reserved exclusively for Italian guests. Costa Deliziosa will be the first ship to sail on 6 September, followed by Costa Diadema on 19 September.
