Costa Atlantica arrived in its new Singapore homeport on 3 May 2013, joining the 2,394-passenger Costa Victoria to offer approximately 222,000 guests a choice of 125 Asian itineraries in 2013.
Upon arrival, the 2,680-passenger vessel hosted an onboard reception and dinner to celebrate the official opening of Carnival Corporation’s Carnival Asia regional office in Singapore. More than 300 guests, including Singapore government officials, local dignitaries, VIPs and travel industry representatives attended the event.
“Since 2006, when Costa Cruises was the first company in the world to market cruises in Asia, we have further strengthened and tailored our product to our local clients’ needs and wishes,” said Gianni Onorato, President of Costa Crociere. “The successful results we have obtained until now have encouraged our company to further expand in the region. With the double positioning of Costa Atlantica and Costa Victoria, Asia becomes the third largest source market for Costa brand, in terms of capacity."
Costa Atlantica will offer three- and four-night cruises to Thailand and Malaysia from May to June 2013. In June, the vessel will homeport in Keelung, Taiwan for two five-night cruises to Japan and South Korea, before homeporting in Shanghai to offer four and five-night cruises to destinations in Japan and South Korea until the end of the year.
