More than 2,000 travellers departed Savona, Italy to embark on a 106-day cruise onboard Costa Cruises’ Costa Luminosa on 6 January.
Costa, which has offered world cruises annually since 2011, has planned an itinerary that will take guests to 35 destinations on five continents before they return to Savona on 22 April.
A highlight of the voyage is that it will cross both Tropics, heading down to Gibraltar then Cape Horn, before heading back up to Polynesia, Australia, India, the Suez Canal and finally Savona.
Destinations will include Casablanca, Morocco; El Salvador; Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Punta Arenas, Valparaiso and Easter Island, Chile; Papeete in Tahiti, Polynesia; Auckland, New Zealand; Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, Australia; Mumbai, Goa and Cochin, India; Colombo, Sri Lanka; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Muscat, Oman; and Aqaba Jordan.
Costa Luminosa will spend several days in many of the destinations, allowing them to enjoy various shore excursions. For example, when guests get to Ushuaia in Argentina, they will be able to enjoy a four-day excursion to two of southern Patagonia’s main attractions: the Perito Moreno glacier and the Torres del Paine National Park.
Other excursions will include a jeep tour in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; a helicopter tour over Papeete in Tahiti; climbing Harbour Bridge in Sydney; a seaplane tour in Dubai; and much more.
