Costa Cruises has released the sixth edition of its sustainability report showing significant environmental gains for 2010.
Amongst the line’s results was an increase of 26 per cent on the previous year in the amount of waste recycled in port and an 11 per cent reduction in the amount of fuel of consumed between 2007 and 2010.
Costa is also spearheading a new European Union Sustainable Cruise project – aboard the Costa Pacifica – which will assess the possibility of treating organic food waste so that it can be used as compost or fuel.
