Cruise Baltic is to conduct a study on the infrastructures and reception facilities available at its partner ports, in accordance with the future legislative requirements in the region.

The project will be supported by a specialist consultant who will liase between the Baltic ports, regional operators and leglisative bodies and will advise on the challenging legislation issues in Northern Europe and the Baltic Sea region. Once completed, the results will be translated onto the Cruise Baltic ‘Port Service Standards Working Tool’, which was officially launched in November 2012.

As the industry’s first interactive pier-by-pier information tool, it allows cruise line operators to access information related to every Baltic port and simplify itinerary planning. .

The evolving service is already popular with many cruise lines and is expected to be even more valuable after the study, when images of the port facilities and links to relevant websites become available.

Shirley Henderson, shore excursions manager, Carnival UK said: “The network takes a great approach towards sharing knowledge and seeking best practice.”
