Cruise Britain has reappointed Kate O’Hara as its new chair, with her role beginning in January 2022 and ending in 2024.
O’Hara is a founder member of Cruise Britain, who previously served as chair from 2009-2012, and has taken over James Strangroom, commercial manager at Bristol Port Company. She is currently also commercial director for cruise at Port of Tyne and previously held senior management positions at Teesside Airport, Leeds Bradford Airport, the Port of Dover and London City Cruise Port.
“Having been involved with Cruise Britain from the start, it is a privilege to reprise the role as chair, albeit at a very different stage in the life of the association,” said O’Hara. “The industry has had a challenging two years, and James has charted a successful course which we need to build on that work and look for opportunities and strategies to continue to build back stronger. I’m looking forward to working together with our member organisations, industry colleagues and cruise lines to ensure that Britain continues to develop successfully as a cruise destination.”
Cruise Britain works with cruise ports, destinations and service providers to promote Britain as an attractive and safe destination. O’Hara will work closely with the organisation’s steering group to support Cruise Britain and all its members.
“We are delighted to have Kate at the helm of the organisation,” said Kay Greenway, director at Cruise Britain. “Her knowledge and expertise make her a great asset to Cruise Britain; the incoming steering group looks forward to working with Kate to look for opportunities and develop strategies in support of our members and to raise the raise the profile of Britain as a cruise destination.”
