Cruise traffic has increased at the Turkish port of Alanya as operators alter scheduled itineraries to avoid the current political instability in Israel and Palestine.
The port welcomed Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Mariner on 4 August and will soon host Oceania Cruises’ Riviera, as well as vessels from both Hapag-Lloyd Cruises and Peter Deilmann Cruises’.
Situated between Cyprus and a variety of Greek islands, the dedicated cruise port is near to the town centre and within walking distance of a variety of local attractions. These include a promenade with shops and sea-front cafes, as well as 800-year old historic buildings. Visiting operators can offer guests a range of full- and half-day shore excursions options, such as rafting in Dim River and visits to Perge, which was established around 1500 BC and is the reputed location of St Paul’s first sermon.
