Crystal Cruises is to return to the Northwest Passage in August 2017.
Crystal Serenity, which will become the first luxury cruise ship to sail the passage this summer, will again sail the route in 2017 as part of her 32-night expedition-style voyage, which departs Anchorage/Seward in Alaska on 15 August. The passage, which is located 500 miles north of the Artic Circle, was first completed successfully by Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen more than 100 years ago.
“We are thrilled to offer intrepid luxury travellers a second opportunity to explore this historical sea passage,” said Edie Rodriguez, Crystal’s CEO and president. “Given the tremendous response to our inaugural Northwest Passage sailing in 2016, it’s clear that discerning travellers continue to value rare and memorable experiences as much as they prize unmatched luxury.”
During her 2017 voyage, Crystal Serenity will call at Kodiak, Dutch Harbor and Nome, Alaska; Ulukhaktok, Northwest Territories; Cambridge Bay and Pond Inlet, Nunavut; Ilulissat, Sisimiut and Nuuk, Greenland; Bar Harbor, Maine; Boston, Massachusetts; Newport, Rhode Island and New York, US.
The line will again partner with Expedition Voyage Consulting by EYOS Expeditions, field experts and the Inuit elders of the Arctic to plan shore excursions.
