Cunard has partnered with Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux to bring his London-based restaurant – Le Gavroche – to Queen Anne and Queen Mary 2 in 2024.
Following the closure of the London restaurant in January 2024, Roux will oversee two exclusive Le Gavroche at The Verandah residencies onboard Queen Mary 2 in partnership with the Norwegian Seafood Council. The first five-night residency will be offered during the ship’s sailing to Hardangerfjord, Norway, on 2 June and the second will be hosted during its Fjords roundtrip from Hamburg, Germany, on 6 August.
Guests will pay an additional charge to join the dining experience, which will be available to 60 people per evening and offer the opportunity to enjoy a five-course tasting menu showcasing Roux’s signature seafood dishes.
Roux will also deliver a five-night Le Gavroche at Sir Samuel’s residency onboard Cunard’s newest ship, Queen Anne, during its cruise to Stavanger in Norway on 11 August. The experience will cater for 50 guests each night and will also be available to passengers sailing on Queen Anne’s 1 September itinerary to Haugesund, Norway.
“It is an absolute privilege to bring Le Gavroche to Cunard’s Queens, reuniting with their hugely talented and passionate culinary development chefs as we strive to create menus inspired by the treasures of Norwegian cuisine,” said Roux. “The culinary heritage of Norway is a tapestry of flavours, and together with Cunard, I look forward to weaving these elements into an extraordinary dining experience at Sir Samuel’s and The Verandah. My ongoing partnership with the Norwegian Seafood Council allows us to ensure every dish tells a story of the nation’s natural beauty.”
During all four cruises, Roux will also appear as an ‘Insights Speaker’ in the Royal Court Theatre to share stories from his more than 40-year career in the hospitality industry. He will also be creating an exclusive gala menu for Queen Anne’s Queens Grill and Princess Grill restaurants, as well as updated dishes for the ship’s Golden Lion pub.
“We are incredibly honoured to exclusively host Le Gavroche at sea and continue our exciting partnership with Michel Roux,” said Katie McAlister, president of Cunard. “Just as Roux sets the bar for fine dining, we at Cunard set the bar for luxury ocean travel, and his innovative approach to celebrating traditional Norwegian cuisine perfectly aligns with our dedication to offering guests unforgettable and culturally rich experiences.”
