Netherlands-based Shipyard De Hoop has expanded and upgraded its repair and service facilities, allowing its Lobith yard to cater for the rapidly increasing inland cruise market.

The shipyard is scheduled to receive a series of vessels for maintenance and repair works, conversions, complete interior refits and equipment installation in 2013, with the increase of environmental regulations and other requirements.

De Hoop will upgrade the wasterwater and sewage treatment systems onboard River Discovery II, River Navigator, Bizet, River Melody, River Harmony, River Rhapsody and River Concerto, as well as the Amadeus Symphony, Amadeus Classic, Amadeus Princess, Amadeus Diamond, Amadeus Elegant and Amadeus Brilliant. Advanced laser equipment will enable engineers to inspect and repair the alignment of engines, generators and thrusters.

The expanded facilities also allow De Hoop to complete renovation projects. For instance, the passenger cabins onboard River Navigator will be fully refitted, while the passenger cabin windows on Amadeus Classic will be replaced with French balcony windows.
