Manufacturer and contractor De Wave Group has carried out work onboard P&O Cruises Australia’s Pacific Encounter at Sembcorp Marine Shipyard in Singapore as part of the cruise line’s fleet transformation project.
In preparation for joining P&O’s fleet from Princess Cruises, Pacific Encounter was refitted with new fixed furnishings, upholstery, and floor and wall coverings, while existing ceilings were repainted. A large portion of the work was focused on The Pantry restaurant, where De Wave Group installed catering fittings including protective glass screens with LED lights and built-in heating lamps.
In total, the project involved refurbishing over 5,000 square metres of space onboard the ship with more than 3,000 square metres of wall coverings, 8,000 square metres of fabrics and 10,000 square metres of carpets fitted.
“Even in this challenging period, we were able to organise many containers of materials and coordinate the work of a team of over 200 skilled people from four continents, successfully completing a highly prestigious project for our group,” said Giacomo Poggi, CEO of Precetti Far-East, one of the three companies that comprise De Wave Group.
De Wave Group will also contribute to the refurbishment of Pacific Adventure when she undergoes work for her planned entry to the fleet later this year.
