Congratulations on your work on Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Joy. Could you tell us about the company’s busy schedule since completing the project?

It seems like a long time since we handed over Norwegian Joy, even though it has only been five months, but such is the speed at which MJM Marine is working. We’ve completed a further nine projects since then with another 10 to deliver before the end of the year – it has been pretty full on.

What is the secret to your success?

Our commitment to reliability, service excellence and quality delivery is key to the success of the company, and we have spent many years forging strong partnerships with our clients. We are seeing the results of these efforts now in many multiship deals.

For example, we have just started a two-ship contract with Royal Caribbean International – we’re working on Voyager of the Seas now and we’ll work on Explorer of the Seas in April 2020. We will also soon start a project on Oasis of the Seas, followed by Allure of the Seas in 2020.

In addition, we have strengthened our relationship with Carnival Cruise Line lately, having completed the refit of Carnival Triumph in spring. Carnival Victory is scheduled for arrival in 2020. These multi-ship deals reflect our clients’ confidence in us and provide us with a level of security and confidence in our future order book.

MJM Marine alluded to some exciting future announcements at Cruise Ship Interiors Expo in Miami in June. Can you give us any further details at this stage?

What is particularly exciting for MJM Marine is that we are building new relationships and opening up new markets in 2020. We are absolutely delighted to have secured the outfitting of all suites and public spaces onboard Silversea Cruises’ new ship Silver Origin. This is our first major venture into the newbuild market, an area we have had our eye on for some time. We are confident this will open us up to more projects in this area in the future.

We have also secured new clients in 2019. Oceania Cruises has entrusted us with a four-ship deal to carry out works on Oceania Insignia and Oceania Sirena, which are already complete; Oceania Regatta, which we have just begun; and Oceania Nautica, which we will complete in 2020. We are also thrilled to have secured our first-ever contract with Windstar Cruises. We will see out 2019 with fit-out works onboard Wind Surf. This is another new relationship for MJM Marine and one that we hope will develop into the future.

So overall MJM Marine is looking forward to a confident few years?

We are certainly looking at a strong, well-balanced order book with a mix of new and existing clients. Our team has put in a lot of work behind the scenes to get to this stage but currently things are looking good and we are quietly confident.
