Costa Cruises’ Costa Deliziosa departed on her 115-day Around-the-World cruise from the Italian port of Savona (Italy) on 6 January 2015.
As part of the four-month voyage, which will conclude on 1 May, the ship will circumnavigate the globe, following the routes of renowned navigators from the past. The 2,500 passengers, who originate from 35 countries around the world, will be able to visit 40 destinations in 18 countries on five continents during the journey. Destinations in the Southern Hemisphere will include countries such as Brazil, Argentina, Tierra del Fuego, Cape Horn, Chile, Easter Island, Polynesia, New Zealand, Australia, Mozambico, South Africa, Namibia.
During the voyage, guests will be able to participate in various shore excursions including visits to the Perito Moreno glacier in Patagonia and the Magdalena Island Natural Penguin Reserve, as well as snorkelling in Papeete, and a helicopter flight over three bays in Capetown. In Australia, shore excursions will include a visit to Pinnacles Desert in Perth, the Blue Mountains in Sydney and Uluru (Ayers Rock) in the Northern Territory.
Onboard entertainment will be provided by various international artists, including acrobats, flamenco dancers, a Beatles tribute band, tango groups, a ventriloquist and folk shows.
To celebrate Costa Deliziosa’s departure, Savona’s Palacrociere cruise terminals were decorated with yellow and blue balloons, while guests enjoyed a traditional brass band performance as they embarked on the ship. The guests were welcomed onboard by actors dressed as historical figures explorer Christopher Columbus and Queen Isabella of Spain. Celebratory events will also take place when the vessel berths in the French port of Marseille and in Barcelona, Spain.
On 14 September, Costa Deliziosa’s sister ship – Costa Luminosa – will embark on her 98-day Around-the-World trip. Between September and 21 December, the ship will sail to ports in France, Spain, the Caribbean, Mexico, US, New Zealand, Australia, China, India and the United Arab Emirates.
Costa Luminosa will also offer a 108-day Around-the-World cruise from Savona between 6 January and 23 April 2016.
