Desso takes back from AIDA

AIDA Cruises is the first cruise operator to become a certified member of marine flooring manufacturer Desso’s Take Back Programme.

Established in early 2008, Desso’s Take Back Programme ensures that its products will be recycled according to the ‘Cradle to Cradle’ sustainability model. The philosophy, which imitates the continuous cycles in the natural world, ensures that Desso designs and manufactures products with technical components that can be reused, rather than discarded at the end of their life.

All carpets and flooring supplied by Desso onboard AIDAaura will be collected and safely reused as high-energy fuel in the cement industry.

“This eco-friendly initiative has been active for years,” said Desso managing director, Roland Jonkhoff. “With AIDA Cruises, we have a like-minded partner for our Take Back Programme. They share our commitment to continuously reducing our impact on the environment and keep setting the bar for sustainability within the cruise industry.”
