Former National Football League player, author, entrepreneur and philanthropist Dhani Jones has joined Royal Caribbean International’s Quantum Experience Advisors programme as a sports and fitness advisor.

As a self-proclaimed adventurer with his own Travel Channel show Dhani Tackles the Globe, Jones has travelled extensively to compete in a range of sports and games across the globe.

“Mixing an active lifestyle with a zest for life comes naturally for Dhani Jones, whose passion for exploring the world has taken him from the sports field to countless countries around the globe,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, executive vice president of operations at Royal Caribbean International.

Since his appointment in June 2013, Jones has collaborated with Royal Caribbean’s Miami-based guest activities team to develop ideas for the SeaPlex sports and entertainment complex, which will feature bumper cars, roller skating and a circus school with a flying trapeze.

Over the next few months, Jones will work on four custom-themed SeaPods and help to develop a programme for activities in the adjacent Sports Deck, which will feature a rock-climbing wall, FlowRider surf simulator and RipCord by iFLY, the first skydiving experience at sea.

“Working with Royal Caribbean as a Quantum Experience Advisor is giving me the opportunity to demonstrate my passion for sports, travel, fitness and adventure,” said Jones. “I am drawing on my own experiences travelling the globe to contribute ideas that will bring good fitness and good fun to Quantum of the Seas.”

Jones is the second celebrity to become part of Royal Caribbean’s Experience Advisors programme, joining American interior designer and HGTV personality Genevieve Gorder, who was appointed as a design advisor in May 2013.

Royal Caribbean’s new Quantum class will debut in November 2014 with Quantum of the Seas, followed by her sister ship Anthem of the Seas in April 2015. The 16-deck ships weigh 167,800 gt and feature 2,090 staterooms, enabling them to accommodate 4,180 guests at double occupancy.
