Disney Cruise Line will build four new ships that are scheduled to join its fleet between 2027 and 2031.

Josh D'Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences, unveiled the fleet expansion during the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23, Walt Disney Co.’s annual fan event. Ship names, designs and itineraries are still in development.

“At Disney Experiences, Imagineers dream, create, design and build these stories into real places,” said D’Amaro said at the event which took place in Anaheim, California on 9-11 August 2024. “We have Imagineers in place right now all around the world because everything we’re going to share with you is in active development. Plans are drawn. Dirt is moving. I just want to be clear about this: We are doing everything you’re going to hear tonight.”

Disney Cruise Line currently operates five ships and is in the process of building four others. These newbuilds, combined with the additional four vessels just announced, which will be constructed by German shipbuilder Meyer Werft, will take the fleet to 13 ships by 2031.

Disney Treasure, which floated out in Germany earlier this month, is scheduled to debut in December 2024 at Port Canaveral in Florida. At the D23 event D’Amaro revealed the ship will feature a new stage production titled ‘Disney The Tale of Moana’, which will include a 15-foot-tall puppet of the goddess Te Kā that’s “the largest we’ve ever produced for a Disney Cruise Line show”.

Disney Destiny will follow in late 2025, and the Wish-class newbuild, which is destined for Japan, will launch in 2028. Disney is also refurbishing the former Global Dream, which will be renamed Disney Adventure and set sail under the Disney flag in Singapore in 2025.
