Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Magic is to return to Liverpool, UK for the third time as part of a Round Britain cruise this July.
Disney Magic will call on 14 July as a part a cruise to ports in Dublin, Ireland; Kirkwall, Hebrides and Invergordon and Greenock, Scotland; and Newcastle and Dover, UK.
To mark the call, the city will host a free, family-friendly event on Princes Parade, which will be decorated with giant deckchairs and flowers and oversized suitcases and photo frames. Visitors will also be able to watch two Disney films – The Lion King and Finding Nemo - at an outdoor cinema. Meanwhile, street theatre will entertain people at the Pier Head and there will also be a small number of food and drink concessions. Everyone who comes along is encouraged to wear fancy dress.
A farewell sing-along will take place at Princes Parade 15 minutes before the ship departs at 7pm and a confetti cannon will mark her departure.
“We were overwhelmed with the reaction to Disney Magic’s visit last year,” said Councillor Wendy Simon, Liverpool’s Assistant Mayor and cabinet member for culture, tourism and events. “Thousands of people headed to the waterfront to see the amazing ship for themselves and be part of the city’s celebrations welcoming her to Liverpool. The feedback we received from passengers, crew and visitors was incredible so we wanted to ensure that we stage another event this year which is perfect for all the family.”
Disney Magic’s Captain Andy McRonald, said: “It’s an honour to receive such a grand welcome from the Port of Liverpool and its surrounding community. We’re looking forward to returning to Liverpool and know our guests will enjoy exploring all the city has to offer.”
