The Port of Dover handled Fred. Olsen Cruise Line’s 1.5 millionth passenger on 14 August 2013, when Pam Allen boarded Braemar for a nine-night Celtic Experience cruise around the UK and Ireland.
Dover and Fred. Olsen celebrated the occasion by presenting Allen and her husband with a bottle of champagne, a framed photograph of Braemar, a print of Dover Harbour and a commemorative Fred. Olsen book.
“We are delighted to celebrate Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ 1.5 millionth embarking guest,” said Clare Newman, Dover’s manager of business delivery. “Fred. Olsen’s first call to Dover Cruise Terminal 1 was with the Black Prince on 18 January 1996 and the combined total of embarking, disembarking and transit guests for Fred. Olsen is just over 1.9 million, which is a tremendous achievement.”
From 2010 until the end of 2014, Fred. Olsen will have completed 140 turnaround calls at the Port of Dover.
“The Cruise Terminal offers our guests excellent facilities, with fast and efficient check-in desks and a spacious departure area,” said Rachael Jackson, public relations manager at Fred. Olsen. “We are committed to providing our guests with convenient regional departures and the Port of Dover is a very popular choice for Southern sailings; we are sure that this will continue to be the case for many years to come.”
Fred. Olsen offers cruises from Dover to a wide range of destinations including the Canary Islands and Azores, the Norwegian fjords and the North Cape. The line also sails to a range of Mediterranean ports such as Corfu, Malta and Morocco, Toulon, Ajaccio, Lisbon, Seville, Barcelona and Naples.
In 2014-2015, Fred. Olsen will offer 14 departures from Dover including a 13-night Canaries Meteor Showers cruise on Braemar and a seven-night Braemar French River cruise.
