Dream Cruises welcomed its one millionth passenger at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal in Hong Kong on 19 October.

Disembarking from World Dream with three generations of her family after a cruise to Japan, Hong Kong resident Mimi Lo was welcomed at the terminal by Thatcher Brown, president of Dream Cruises; Christine Li, senior vice president and head of marketing at communications at Dream Cruises’ parent company Genting Cruise Lines; and Jeff Bent, managing director of Worldwide Cruise Terminals, which manages Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. The three executives hosted a short celebratory ceremony, which was also attended by the ship’s captain Robert Bodin and hotel director Ann Zhang.

“On behalf of Dream Cruise, I would like to congratulate our one millionth guest on Dream Cruises, Mimi Lo,” said Brown. “It is fortuitous that this important milestone is taking place during Genting Hong Kong’s 25th Anniversary. As this is her second time onboard our ship, I would like to personally thank Ms Lo for her continued support of Dream Cruises and hope to see her on another cruise very soon.”

To commemorate the milestone, Lo and her family were given signed prints by artist Jacky Tsai, who created World Dream’s hull artwork, as well as a private tour of the bridge, an exclusive photoshoot, champagne and other treats.

“Thank you Dream Cruises for this wonderful surprise,” said Lo. “Dream Cruises provides my family with an ideal vacation option that not only appeals to me but also offers a choice of activities for my children and my parents as well. We have also been impressed with the facilities in The Palace and appreciate the great service from our butlers and all the crew members onboard.”

World Dream became the first mega cruise ship to be christened in Hong Kong when she debuted in November 2017 and, along with sister ship Genting Dream, has helped to turn Kai Tak Cruise Terminal into a major cruise hub.

From her dual homeports in Guangzhou in China and Hong Kong, World Dream offers cruises to Japan’s Okinawa Islands, Danang and Halong Bay in Vietnam, and Subic Bay and Manila in the Philippines. The vessel also sails two-night weekend voyages. Meanwhile, Genting Dream homeports in Singapore and provides two-, three- and five-night itineraries to Phuket in Thailand, North Bali, Surabaya in Indonesia, Macleod Island in Myanmar and Penang, Langkawi and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

Dream Cruises will introduce a third vessel – Explorer Dream – to the fleet in 2019 and two new Global class ships by early 2021.

“I am extremely proud of how quickly Dream Cruises has grown since its launch just under two years ago,” said Brown. “It is truly a testament to our remarkable crew and reflects the support we have received from government bodies, our business partners, the media and the public that we have reached our one millionth passenger in such a short period.”
