Satellite and terrestrial communications provider EMC has signed a long-term agreement to provide faster internet access onboard all cruise ships in the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) fleet.

EMC will provide its services for all three brands in NCLH’s portfolio – Oceania Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line and Regent Seven Seas Cruises – to give guests fast access to high-quality internet, entertainment and multimedia experiences.

“With the addition of new hardware, combined with the significant increase in satellite bandwidth, shoreside connectivity and EMC’s SpeedNet, we have moved beyond the decades-old problem of slow data speeds from satellite, to deliver a much more efficient and faster Internet experience for our guests,” said Ross Henderson, vice president of Onboard Revenue at NCLH. “Our guests can consume content, post to social media and stay in touch with family and friends on the ships’ network, just as they are used to on land.”
