Emerald Cruises and MKM Yachts have celebrated the start of construction on luxury superyacht, Emerald Kaia, with a keel-laying ceremony at the shipbuilder’s yard in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam.

To celebrate the construction milestone, Emerald Cruises released a selection of updated renderings of the yacht, which is expected to debut in April 2026. The vessel will feature an Observation Sun Deck and wellness areas with a spa and swim-up platform, which will give guests direct access to the ocean from the fitness centre. Marina facilities will include an inflatable slide and a selection of water toys. The ship will also accommodate 128 guests in a range of suites and staterooms, 88 per cent of which will have a private veranda.

“The keel laying of Emerald Kaia marks another exciting step forward in our vision for redefining the yachting experience,” said Glen Moroney, chairman and founder of Scenic Group, parent company of Emerald Cruises. “Building on the tremendous success of Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara, Emerald Kaia reflects our commitment to innovation, luxury, and sustainability. We thank the skilled team at MKM Yachts for bringing this vision to life.”

Emerald Kaia will be the third superyacht in Emerald Cruises’ fleet, which also includes Emerald Azzurra, which made its debut in March 2022, and Emerald Sakara, which was christened in December 2023. The yacht will spend its inaugural season sailing an array of itineraries to the Mediterranean, Adriatic, Aegean and Seychelles.
