Emerald Luna will be Emerald Cruises ninth river cruise ship

Emerald Cruises has christened its newest ship, Emerald Luna, in a ceremony in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

In attendance were Rob Voss, chief operating officer of parent company Scenic Group; David Winterton, global director of brand & marketing for Emerald Cruises; Maggie Carbonell, vice president of marketing USA for Emerald; and Ann Chamberlin, vice president of sales in theUSA for Emerald. American travel industry advocate and educator Vanessa McGovern of the Gifted Travel Network served as the ship’s godmother for the ceremony.

“The addition of Emerald Luna allows us to offer more sailings on our most popular river itineraries in Europe, with all the signature Emerald Cruises touches that guests have come to love,” said Winterton. “By launching Emerald Cruises’ ninth luxury Star-ship, Emerald Luna, we will offer guests more itineraries and more choice across Europe’s most iconic waterways. We are incredibly excited to work together with travel agents and create once-in-a-lifetime experiences for our guests.”

Emerald Luna will have capacity for 180 guests and will feature an indoor swimming pool with a retractable roof and a cinema on the ship’s aft. She is the ninth in the Star-Ship class of ships in the cruise line’s fleet, joining Emerald Sun, Sky, Star, Dawn and Destiny in sailing on the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers.
