Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Europa 2 is to make her maiden visit to the Port of New Orleans in the US on 10 October.
The 516-passenger ship will berth at the Julia Street Cruise Terminal and host an onboard plaque exchange ceremony with port officials.
Europa 2 will then depart New Orleans on 12 October and sail to Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean before heading to the South Pacific to spend the winter months in Australia and New Zealand.
“New Orleans consistently ranks atop the world’s top destinations for visitors and cruise lines see the Port of New Orleans as an attractive call on their itineraries,” said Gary LaGrange, port president and CEO. “Port-call vessels typically have a wide ranging impact on the local economy, as passengers, who are often international, have the opportunity to spend a few days exploring everything the city and the surrounding region has to offer.”
Europa 2 is one of 10 cruise ships scheduled to make a port call in New Orleans prior to the end of 2016. Azamara Club Cruises’ Azamara Quest will call on 25-26 October, AIDA Cruises’ AIDAvita will make four overnight calls beginning 5 November, and P&O Cruises will call with Oriana on 8-9 Novemberm and Azura on 22-24 December. Crystal Cruises will also bring Crystal Serenity to New Orleans on 6-7 December.
