The Expedition Cruise Network (ECN) is adding Selar and Galaxy Expeditions as new expedition cruise operator members of its association of global cruise operators.

Selar is launching a sustainable collection of luxury polar ships and expeditions, set to embark on its first journey in 2026. The line was founded by the first female captain to sail the Arctic, Sophie Galvagnon, alongside entrepreneurs Julia Bijaoui and Quentin Vacher. It will use the sun and wind to power its vessel, with five solid sails covered in 20,000 square feet of solar panels. According to Selar, the ship will cruise without any noise, vibration or smell and will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 90 per cent compared to other cruise vessels in the Arctic region.

"Selar is excited to empower collective business growth through ECN and shape the future of our industry together!" said Galvagnon.

Formerly known as Galagents Galapagos Cruises, Galaxy Expeditions has been sailing in South America for nearly 20 years across its fleet of luxury catamarans, yachts and specialised dive vessels. The line’s ships have a maximum capacity of 16 passengers, and it works directly with destinations to develop experiences for its guests.

“Galapagos isn’t just a place to visit; it’s a place to feel, explore, and remember forever,” said Diego Freire, UK/USA business developer for Galaxy Expeditions.

“We are delighted to welcome both Selar and Galaxy Expeditions to the Expedition Cruise Network,” said Akvile Marozaite, CEO and co-founder of Expedition Cruise Network. “Selar brings innovative experiences to the network that really highlight the sustainable and technological advancements in the expedition industry, whilst Galaxy Expeditions is a true advocate for unique and authentic across Latin America. They are both incredible editions to the network.”
