Blue Lagoon Cruises has launched the first ever cruise to the remote Lau Island Group in Fiji.

The South Pacific destination at the eastern edge of the Fiji islands has until now been inaccessible to cruises. Immersion in local Melanesian, Micronesian, Polynesian and Lauan microcultures is a focus of the new cruise, which visits remote local villages, many of whose inhabitants have not encountered people from beyond their local area. The cruise adds to Blue Lagoon’s existing portfolio of small boat cruises around the Fijian islands.

Large ship cruises already established in Fiji include the Paul Gauguin Cruises itinerary which takes in Lautoka and the capital Suva, and the P&O Cruises route from Southampton to Lautoka on the Aurora.
