UK-based company Forbo Flooring Systems has launched Coral Marine FR, a new type of flooring for entrance ways on passenger ships, which has been certified by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Designed to replace Forbo Flooring’s previous Coral T32 FR marine flooring, the new Coral Marine FR is made from 60% wool and 40% polyamide to ensure durability, and is available in eight contemporary colourways. The flooring meets all IMO fire safety standards, while its yarn and backing fabric have been developed to comply with the strict smoke toxicity and low-flame spread standards required by IMO Wheelmark.

Coral Marine FR is designed to simultaneously absorb up to 95% of the moisture and dry waste from the soles of shoes at entrance ways, which reduces slip hazards for passengers and minimises cleaning and maintenance tasks for crew.

Forbo Flooring systems also has two other floor covering products in its IMO-certified collection: Flotex FR and Westbond FR carpet tiles.
