Norway-based Fosen Yard has agreed to form a joint venture with Hantong Shipbuildibg in China to build cruise ships, and ro-pax and ro-ro ferries.
To be marketed as Fosen Hantong with immediate effect, the joint venture will initially last for eight years and see the two shipyards combine their technical expertise and the financial and market resources.
Fosen Yard specialises in designing and building ro-ro, ro-pax and cruise vessels for owners worldwide, so it will provide technical expertise, resources and operational solutions. It will also manage specific projects as per the joint venture agreement.
Hantong Shipbuilding constructs various types of vessels and will provide high production capacity and quality, as well as a dedicated modern shipyard facility. The company will also add financial strength and accommodate for financing arrangements when necessary.
Fosen Hantong will also establish a design and development company in Trondheim, Norway with the intention to become a leading developer and provider of marine design and technology.
