Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is to adopt IBS Software’s iTravel point-of-sale (POS) system to enhance the onboard dining and retail experience across its entire fleet of cruise ships.
Part of IBS Software’s iTravel Suite, the iTravel POS solution will be integrated with Fed. Olsen’s onboard systems for food and beverage inventory, dining and property management systems. This will enable guests to order food, beverages and other retail services from their cabin via a mobile device. Crew will also be able to access all key sales functions via handheld devices, allowing guests to carry on making traditional over-the-counter purchases if they prefer.
“We expect iTravel-PoS to improve guest experience and drive efficiencies for POS operations across our fleet as well as simplify our technology landscape,” said Damon Impett, director of IT at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.
IBS Software will also implement iTravel-Super Highway to synchronise data between shore and ship in real time to enable ongoing tasks – setting up restaurant and menus – to be centrally managed from onshore headquarters. In addition, it will allow the sales from each ship to be consolidated and monitored real time from headquarters and hosted on the public cloud.
“Fred. Olsen is a forward-thinking cruise line and it’s really fulfilling to be a part of the company’s digital transformation journey,” said Asish Koshy, vice president and head of tour and cruise solutions at IBS Software. “IBS’s vision is to provide cruise lines with a seamlessly integrated shore-ship digital platform supporting reservations and onboard operations. With Fred. Olsen also selecting IBS for POS we have begun to realise this vision.”
