The Port Network Authority of the Ionian Sea has awarded cruise port operator Global Ports Holding (GPH) with a 20-year concession to manage the services for cruise passengers in the Port of Taranto, Italy.

The port is currently undergoing a €28 million ($33.2 million) state-funded investment programme that includes the building of a new cruise terminal. The construction of these facilities is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.

GPH and the port authority will now work towards approving the terms of a concession agreement. The concession is then expected to start in the first quarter of 2021.
