Author and TV and radio presenter Gloria Hunniford is to name Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ (CMV) newly refurbished Magellan on 12 March.

Hunniford will christen the 46,052gt ship in front of around 1,000 invited guests during a ceremony at London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury, UK.

“We are delighted that Gloria can be part of this great day in our history,” said Mike Hall, CMV’s head of marketing. “She is a popular TV presenter and much loved by the British public.”

Designed as CMV’s new flagship, Magellan accommodates around 1,250 passengers in 726 cabins spanning nine passenger decks. Like CMV’s Marco Polo and Azores, the ship will be adults-only.
