The Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders are to christen Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Getaway on 7 February 2014.
Known as South Florida’s international ambassadors, the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders debuted in 1966 and will name the vessel during an onboard ceremony.
“Norwegian Getaway is Miami’s ultimate ship, so the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders are a great fit with our brand as they are excellent role models and global representatives of South Florida,” said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian’s president and CEO. “There’s no better match here in Miami than to have these outstanding women christen our new ship.”
In addition, Norwegian will act as an official sponsor throughout the Miami Dolphins season at Sun Life Stadium. At each home game, ticket holders can enter a competition to win a cruise for four on Getaway, while a military hero will be awarded a cruise for two on the ship during the ‘Salute to Service’ in the third quarter of home matches. On-site ambassadors will also provide information about the line's fleet.
The partnership also extends onboard Norwegian Getaway, as the ship’s library will house Miami Dolphins memorabilia.
“Partnering with the world's premier cruise line allows us to align with another iconic South Florida brand that like the Dolphins, strives to provide a first class experience in everything they do,” said Jason Miller, director of corporate partnerships for the Miami Dolphins and Sun Life Stadium. “It is truly an honour that our cheerleaders have been selected to christen the largest ship ever to homeport in Miami. We look forward to building a mutually beneficial long term relationship with Norwegian.”
Getaway, sister ship to the recently launched Norwegian Breakaway, will homeport in Miami and will feature hull artwork by local artist David LeBatard. The ship will offer 26 dining venues, interactive Nickelodeon entertainment and the industry’s first GrammyExperience and The Illusionarium dining and entertainment experience. She will also have 678 Ocean Place and The Waterfront venues and a three-storey Sports Complex featuring the Aqua Park with five water slides, two swimming pools and a multilevel, elevated ropes course with 40 different elements.
The ship will sail seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises departing every Saturday from Miami beginning on 8 February 2014.
