Global ports and terminal operators will showcase how implementing alternative fuels and schemes to limit air and noise emissions is helping them to meet new policies at GreenPort Cruise & Congress this October.
To take place at the Port of Valencia in Spain from 16-19 October, this year’s congress will address how industry stakeholders can reduce the costs and risks associated with the demands of compliance and sustainable development.
Programme highlights will include a ‘Challenges ahead: the practicalities of meeting them’ session, which will be followed by a panel that will focus on the 10 key takeaways for reducing costs and maximising efficiency in terminals. Speakers include Malte Siegert, head of Environmental Policy at Naturschutzbund Deutschland; Thomas Desnijder, advisor for Energy Policy at North Sea Port; and Ton van Breeman, environmental manager for the Port of Amsterdam.
In addition, there will be a discussion about environmental management in terminals, featuring panellists from MSC Terminal Valencia, APM terminals and Grimaldi. Meanwhile, the ‘Policy measures: what’s next?’ session will focus on how the marine industry can tackle the effects that mounting policy measures are having on the port and terminal environment. Panel speakers will include Isabelle Ryckbost, secretary general of European Sea Ports Organisation; Antonis Michail, project coordinator for the World Ports Sustainability Program at IAPH; and Alvaro Rodriguez, technical director at Puertos del Estado.
