Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ Magellan sailed into the port of Hamburg in Germany for the first time on 12 July.

Magellan, which was christened on 12 March 2015 in London, was escorted to the Hamburg Cruise Center Altona berth by a fireboat with water cannons. The ship docked for 12 hours while its 1,250 passengers explored the city and Berlin.

To mark the visit, Uwe Harfenmeister, supervisor at Hamburg’s vessel traffic service centre, presented the ship’s captain Nikos Michaloliakos with a commemorative plaque.

Magellan will return to Hamburg on 3 October, while a second CMV ship – Marco Polo – will visit the port the following day.
