Havila Voyages’ second ship, Havila Castor, will start operating from Bergen, Norway, on 10 May 2022, following a month’s delay at Tersan Shipyard, in Turkey, caused by challenges with an electric motor.
Castor, which is yet to undergo sea trials, was originally planned to depart on her maiden voyage on 7 April 2022.
“I apologise to those passengers who have been looking forward to exploring the Norwegian coast on Havila Castor,” said Bent Martini, CEO of Havila Kystruten. “We very much look forward to welcoming them onboard in future and are contacting them to discuss an alternative voyage.”
Havila’s third and fourth ships, Havila Polaris and Havila Pollux, are also likely to be impacted by the delay.
“We assume that Havila Polaris will start operating in the third quarter and Havila Pollux in the fourth quarter of this year,” said Martini. “At this stage we are unable to confirm the exact dates but are doing everything we can to ensure we can put these ships into operation as quickly as possible, for the benefit of all who will travel and work onboard.”
