Heineken is to add new brands to the beverage portfolio it offers onboard cruise ships in 2017.
From 2017, customers sailing on ships belonging to major global cruise lines will be able to buy Red Stripe beer following Heineken’s acquisition of the majority shares in the classic Jamaican beer company. Red Stripe will complement the core Heineken Global Duty Free portfolio, which includes Heineken, Dos Equis, Newcastle Brown Ale and Tiger beer.
“The Heineken portfolio is solidly built on brands that express engaging, authentic stories and Red Stripe clearly has a powerful story to share in travel retail,” said Koos Vrijlandt, Global Duty Free account manager at Heineken. “The Red Stripe story began almost 90 years ago in Jamaica and Heineken has already begun plans for the repatriation of production to the Kingston brewery by the end of this year, doubling its capacity, and reflecting our emphasis on authenticity and traditions that translate to exceptional taste.”
Heineken is also growing its Strongbow Apple Ciders offer onboard cruise ships. Since its UK launch in 1962 Strongbow has become the world’s most popular cider brand and has expanded to offer a range of apple ciders complemented by natural flavours. Earlier this year, the brand also introduced Strongbow 0.0% for a healthier, alcohol-free option.
