The Hong Kong Tourist Board (HKTB) has extended its WinterFest – a series of Christmas-themed events taking place throughout the region until 2 January 2022 – to the sea by partnering with cruise companies Dream Cruises and Royal Caribbean International.

Genting Dream and Spectrum of the Seas, which are currently homeporting in Hong Kong, are presenting ‘WinterFest at Sea’ throughout the holiday season.

“We have been working closely with cruise line partners to spur local demand for cruise travel since the restart of cruising earlier this year,” said Kenneth Wong, general manager of meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions and cruise at HKTB. “The idea of aligning major events and festivals onshore with activities onboard has proven effective and practical.”

Genting Dream will host a ‘Nordic Christmas Adventure’ with a range of food, Christmas-themed activities, handicraft workshops and entertainment. The ship previously offered a ‘C’est La Sea!’ programme throughout a Wine & Dine month in November, which was promoted by HKTB in a social media campaign and a series of media programmes.

“Thanks to the collaboration with HKTB, ‘C’est La Sea!’ onboard Genting Dream was very well received,” said Christine Li, senior vice president and head of marketing at Genting Cruise Lines. “With our ongoing partnership with the HKTB, Dream Cruises is looking forward to providing even more innovative activities onboard our ship in 2022 to enhance the Super Seacation experience for Hong Kong.”

Spectrum of the Seas, meanwhile, will host ‘Sparkling Christmas’, with holiday decorations and a selection of limited-time activities, workshops, dining offerings and Broadway-style shows. She previously featured wine-pairing menus and beverage packages during the Wine & Dine month.

“The Wine & Dine programme has created noise and awareness about our unforgettable cruise experience – from world-class dining and spectacular entertainment to record-setting onboard thrills and groundbreaking innovation!” said Crystal Campbell, managing director of Royal Caribbean Cruises Hong Kong. “Undoubtedly, our upcoming Christmas and New Year cruises will continue to fuel the excitement and momentum of local cruise travel.”
