Pullmantur’s Horizon made her inaugural call at the Spain’s Port of Tarragona on 30 August.
Arriving from the Spanish port of Almeria with more than 1,500 passengers onboard, Horizon moored at Tarragona’s cruise terminal, which is located on the Llevant Wharf. The 208m ship, which sails under the Maltese flag, departed for Marseille, France, in the afternoon.
While in Tarragona, passengers enjoyed various shore excursions and organised tours, enabling them to visit the city’s main points of historic and cultural interest, such as the Poblet monastery and local wine cellars.
Tarragona Cruise Port Costa Daurada offers various tourist attractions including the ruins of a Roman coliseum and an amphitheatre, as well as seven golf courses, numerous wineries and restaurants offering Mediterranean cuisine.
In 2016, the Spanish city will open Ferrari Land, a new 75,000 sqm theme park located next to the Port Aventura theme park, which attracts more than four million visitors per year. Meanwhile in 2017, Tarragona will host the 18th Mediterranean Games, which will take place from 30 June to 9 July.
