Hyline Cruises has launched Grey Lady IV, its new 48m catamaran ferry, in Hyannis, Massachusetts.

Grey Lady IV is the fourth catamaran ferry to be designed by Incat Crowther and built by Gladding Hearn for Hyline Cruises and features additional passenger capacity and luggage space, as well as a VIP lounge.

To create a VIP lounge for additional passengers at the front of the second deck, Incat Crowther moved the wheelhouse to the third deck. Passengers can board the ferry via doors in the forward and aft areas, and a new mid-deck door. Those boarding over the vessel’s bow are served by a stair tower from the main deck cabin, via the mid-deck to the outdoor roof deck. This improves passenger flow and turnaround time, and also gives VIP passengers a dedicated access route.

Designed to operate at a service speed of 30 knots, Grey Lady IV is powered by four Cummins QSK60-M main engines with a rating of 1641kW each. This will enable the vessel to run on three engines at a modest speed on a daily basis, reducing wear and tear and increasing time between overhauls.
