Norwegian Getaway will debut the Illusionarium, a new dining and entertainment experience, when it arrives in Miami in February 2014.

The Illusionarium allows passengers to experience the artistry of magicians, in a show inspired by Jules Verne’s science fiction, performers such as Houdini and supernatural characters from recent movies. It is the result of a collaboration between Norwegian's entertainment team, Broadway director and choreographer Patricia Wilcox, scenic designer David Gallo and magician Jeff Hobson. The Illusionarium will offer twice-nightly performances and 12 shows per cruise.

“I am so excited about this new magical experience that will come to life aboard Norwegian Getaway," said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line's CEO. “The Illusionarium will be an experience unlike anything at sea today and will take adults and children alike on a journey into the mystical world of magic. This is so perfect for the ship that will embody the vibe of the Magic City.”

Norwegian Getaway features Aqua Park, which includes five multi-storey water slides, an open-flume body slide, two swimming pools, four hot tubs and a semi-open air restaurant. The park will also have The Whip, two adjacent twister slides, as well as Free Fall, a twin free-fall slide which propels upright passengers down a steep drop and loop after a trapdoor opens beneath them.

The ship’s three-story sports complex will feature a range of activities such as a multi-level elevated ropes course consisting 40 different elements, a zip line and The Plank, a platform that extends eight feet over the side of the ship.

AAdult-only outdoor spaces include, Spice H2O, which features sun lounges, a large video screen, two hot tubs, a dual waterfall feature and a bar with a lounge area, while guests can also purchase passes to the exclusive Vibe Beach Club for access to its oversized hot tub, sun lounges, a water feature and a full-service bar.

Norwegian Getaway is currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenberg, Germany and is due to be delivered in January 2014. The 146,000gt vessel will homeport in Miami and sail on seven-day cruises from Miami to the Eastern Caribbean beginning on 1 February 2014.
