Croatian yard Brodosplit has held a keel laying ceremony for Oceanwide Expeditions’ Janssonius. The ceremony, which marks the formal beginning of a ship’s construction, was attended by the cruise line’s founder Wijnand van Gessel, chief operating officer Mark van der Hulst and several other executives.

Janssonius will be a Polar Class 6 vessel with capacity for 170 passengers in 80 cabins, as well as a crew of 72. Interiors for the vessel will be designed by Marloes Boele, founder of interior design studio MDesigns. The ship is scheduled for delivery in late summer of 2021.
